Walkfest celebrates the 70th anniversary of the North York Moors National Park with a series of walks following the coastal stretches of the Cleveland Way National Trail, giving you a chance to walk linear stretches of the trail (with transport provided). There will also be a special walk delving into the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Byland, a significant but largely forgotten battle at Sutton Bank.
Leaving Saltburn by the Sea, which rose in popularity with the Victorians, this 9 mile route rises quickly onto the clifftop. After coming across several art features, the path climbs up to Boulby Cliff, at 203 metres the highest on England’s east coast, before finishing at the picturesque harbour village of Staithes.
