The village of Barão de São João, in the municipality of Lagos, will once again receive the festival that unites walks with art.
From the 5th to the 7th of November, the village of Barão de São João, in the municipality of Lagos, will once again receive the festival that unites walks with art.
The 4th edition once again features the mobilization of the local artistic community. 11 local artists are the authors of “Contercycle”, a collective artistic installation consisting of 12 art pieces that can be found along a route of about 3 km, which passes through the village and the forest of Barão de São João.
The theme “Countercycle” appears as an active response to the moment we are going through. After the trial by fire that we were all subjected to with the pandemic, it is time to question whether the return to the so-called “pre-Covid normality”, which we have been eagerly awaiting, should not be an opportunity to break the cycle of ideas and behavior that led us until now and that have degraded our common home – the Earth. This year's art installation encourages visitors to reflect on what each of us can change and, above all, to act accordingly.
All activities are free but subject to subscription. Visitors can experiment with artistic techniques (photography, painting, among others), enjoy wellness practices (dance, music, luohan qigong (chi ckung), tai chi, tai ji quan, meditation) and participate in activities designed for families (storytime, earth paintings, treasure hunt, forest discovery).
For those looking for physical activity combined with discovering nature, the festival proposes walks, some of them themed (biodiversity, geodiversity and heritage), and mountain biking tours. There is also time for a concert by Tiago Saga, in a intimate version.
In total, the program features 46 walks, 4 mountain biking routes, 15 activities for kids, 9 well-being activities, 8 workshops and one concert.
The event will once again count on several partnerships, such as tourism animation companies and official entities that will promote many of these activities.
