The hiking festival takes place in Region Zealand every year during the last two weeks of August and the first week of September. It is an obvious opportunity to experience the region's nature and culture on foot and in cozy company with others. It is wonderful for both body and soul.
It is the municipalities in Region Zealand that, together with associations and the like, arrange the walks and hikes in the Hiking Festival.

The Danish Nature Agency's car park by the telecommunications tower, Lerbjergvej 24, Hvalsø
Come and see and hear about the Danish Nature Fund's newly acquired forest - Lerbjergskoven, where there are good prospects for an exciting, varied and increased biodiversity. In 2021, the Danish Nature Foundation, Lejre Municipality and National Park Skjoldungernes Land entered into a cooperation agreement in connection with the Danish Nature Foundation's purchase of the 120-hectare forest area Lerbjergskoven, which until then had been privately owned by Ledreborg Estate.
With the purchase and the cooperation agreement, this opens up for the large forest area to be used in the same way as it is known from Bidstrup Skoven and the other state nature areas managed by the Danish Nature Agency.
This is a good opportunity to take a closer look at and hear about the perspectives and Lerbjergskoven's potential for an exciting, varied and increased biodiversity. In this connection, we must hear about, see and look for a number of exciting and rare species such as Hasselmus, Great Water Salamander and Copper Thousand Legs, but also Leather Runner (the giant among the beetles), a number of butterflies, plants etc.
