From 1991, Sagamarsjen is also Norway's only member of the International Marching League IML. Following the IML's annual meeting in Japan in 1997, the IML is divided into the European Marching League EML, to which the Saga March belongs, and a separate marching league for the countries around the Pacific Ocean, called the Pan Pacific Marching League PPML. The division was necessary due to huge applications from many countries around the world, to become a member country of the IML.
A warm welcome to all our participants who return year after year both at home and abroad. We need a solid foundation to maintain the number of participants in the years ahead. We especially welcome new members, and hope you will enjoy our large group of hiking march enthusiasts.
The saga march's motto: "WILL TO HEALTH" still stands, together with the diplomas' inscription: "On all paths it drove people". In addition, we now have with us IML's motto (Latin): NOS IUNGAT AMBULARE ", which means" hiking unites us ".
In the year 1030, people came to Stiklestad to fight against each other. Now, almost 1000 years later, everyone in the Saga March meets for peaceful purposes.
In 2020, the IML General Meeting will be held in Verdal.
