The Lysefjord is located in Sandnes and Strand municipalities, Rogaland county, Fjord-Norway. The 42-kilometer-long fjord was originally a river valley, created by creeks and rivers eroding through an old plain landscape. Through a series of ice ages, this valley was carved out by moving glaciers and transformed into its current deep U-shape.
The aim of the festival is to gather people who like to walk and experience Lysefjorden together, in new ways. The program is full of exciting joint trips, many of which are on new and/or unknown paths, and several cultural elements. On Saturday, all roads lead to Preikestolen BaseCamp, where the festival host offers a joint dinner and outdoor concert. Discover Lysefjorden!
Join us on a great hike from Lyngsheia to Lysefjorden. The first stage goes to the tourist association's new cabin at the end of Sunnmorkvatnet. From there the trip goes down Skurvedalen to the beautiful Bakken gard and on to the Preikestolen Basecamp after a night on the Bakken.
We meet at a small parking space along the road 150 m south of Kåsastølen. The trip takes place in hilly and beautiful high mountain terrain, through the Skurvedalen and down to the Lysefjorden. After a good night on Bakken, the trip goes to Preikestolen BaseCamp. The trip offers great views over the Lysefjord, and a visit to the disused mountain farm Hengjane.
The route is graded as demanding due to its length and demanding terrain with certain challenging sections involving climbing.

Lysefjorden Development + Norwegian People's Aid Beach and Forsand
Join us on a nice joint trip to Preikestolen and Hengjane on unknown paths. Helge Kjellevold, one of the landowners at Hengjane, is the tour leader on this demanding but enjoyable tour. From Preikestolen BaseCamp we first go up the main path to Preikestolen. After visiting the world-famous rock formation, we turn off the main path to find new roads to Neverdalen and the spectacular gorge at the edge of the fjord. When we go up Geitatørnet we will have a view of the entire fjord. Neverdalsfjellet, Preikestolen and Lysefjordbrua in the west, and Hengjane and Lysebotn in the east. Along old cairns, we meander down to the abandoned mountain guard Hengjane. Here there will be storytelling about life on the farm, Sikke and Hengjanetyskeren, and more. The return is on the red-marked path, along beautiful Skogavatn, and through Neverdalen back to the main path down to Preikestolen BaseCamp.
This will be a tough and long trip (approx. 15 km and 6-7 hours), with fantastic viewpoints and great storytelling.
