Glasstadmars

Leerdam and the Glass City March are inextricably linked. This is evident from the fact that many Leerdam primary schools and associations participate. In addition, many sports enthusiasts come from outside Leerdam, especially to participate in the long distances. The number of participants is between 2000 and 2300 annually.

Distances

The Glasstadmars offers different distances, for groups and individuals, so that young and old can join in:
  • 3.5 km
  • 6 km
  • 10 km
  • 15 km
  • 20 km
  • 30 km
  • 40 km
  • 50 km.

Start times

  • 06.30 – 09.00: 50 km and 40 km
  • 07:00 – 10:00: 30 km
  • 09.00 – 13.00: 20 km and 15 km
  • 09:00 – 13:00: 10 km, 6 km and 3.5 km
  • 13.00: participants of the parade, regardless of distance, both groups and individuals

Parking

The starting location is located in a residential area. Parking around the starting location is possible, but not easy.
We therefore ask participants from Leerdam and the immediate vicinity to come by bicycle.

Traffic jam

According to tradition, an annual parade is held at 't Hofje van Mrs van Aerden in Leerdam. The Hofje is a beautiful, landmark building for Leerdam. Schools, associations, individuals, families and bands pass by in a colorful procession, preceded by an advertising caravan. Always nice to look at for the spectators; the way for associations to promote themselves. The runners are greeted on the platform of 't Hofje.

Jury assessment

All participating groups are judged by a jury. The jury consists of three members from the Leerdam event. There will be a prize for the most beautiful group, the coziest group and an extra prize. Immediately after the march, the prizes will be awarded on the forecourt of Leerdam Sport.

Medical care

Medical care is provided during the walking tour, which is provided by the Red Cross.
