Accompanied by expert hiking guides, you could discover the varied landscape, history and culture of the Bergisches Wanderland. From short guided tours to long day hikes, everything was there. For example, there were hikes with canoe trips, health and pilgrimage hikes, herbal hikes, photo hikes, hikes with musical or artistic performances or donkey trekking. There were also some early bird and after-work hikes again, so that working hikers could also get their money's worth.
We are very happy that we were able to offer you a varied hiking program together with our guest and hiking guides from September 11th to 26th, 2021. Despite the fact that the 7th Bergisch Hiking Week was postponed to autumn for the first time, the series of events was again very well received. Hiking guides and participants were happy to finally come together again in guided hiking groups and then stop off together in the beer garden. And late summer also showed itself from its most beautiful side. We would like to thank all the guests who came from near and far and contributed to a successful event!
We are already looking forward to the 8th Bergische Wanderwoche, which will take place from 10th to 25th September 2022 will take place! The program is currently being put together and will probably be published here at the beginning of August. Of course there will be a flyer with all dates again this year, which you can download here. Until this is finished, you can get an impression of last year's program in the flyer from the previous year.

In the company of nice people we explore one of the most popular Bergisch forays, the Steinhauerpfad (No. 8). We learn about the arduous life of the stone carvers in earlier times, local history and current information about the quarrying, treatment and processing of greywacke in earlier times and their marketing. In particular, we experience the location of the oldest forest in the world and get to know the largest quarry in the municipality of Lindlar with the machines running.

The meeting point is the program - at the panorama hut there are pure panoramas! In the border area of Rhineland/Westphalia, the path leads over mountainous heights with magnificent
views far into the Sauerland. After picturesque villages you come across the juniper path with fabulous stories. Then comes the leap into the neighboring "Bergisches Jungle". Here the beech stock is left to its own devices and no longer maintained by forestry. You can expect exciting "tree personalities" from redwood to sweet chestnut.
The “Eckenhääner cure drink”, Bergisches Kölsch as well as farmer’s cheese and herbal food await you – of course always in particularly atmospheric and hidden places
corners in nature. The luggage also includes funny stories about old eating habits and forgotten customs.

Health hiking is primarily aimed at people who want to move more (again) and start out cautiously. At the same time, health hikes can be adapted very well – to different fitness levels and different target groups.

Under the expert guidance of the mushroom expert Melanie Schoppe (mushroom expert of the German Society for Mycology) you will learn a lot of interesting things about the occurrence, growth, reproduction and habitat of the mushrooms. The excursion does not aim to show you the best mushroom locations in the Wiebachtal (!), but is intended to give you an insight into the world and ecology of mushrooms. We will certainly pick one or the other mushroom, but the primary aim here is to recognize and identify the different species - that's why the basket stays at home.
