The Achterhoek has long been an attractive combination of culture and nature. Special museums, picturesque towns, rare beautiful gardens and of course the beautiful scenic landscape are the well-known ingredients of a holiday in one of the most beautiful regions of our country.

It is much less known that the Achterhoek also offers its visitors and residents one of the most beautiful and without doubt the most charming four-day hiking trails in the country; the Barchemse 4 Daagse.

The charm of the Barchemse is its small scale. A maximum of fifteen hundred hikers take part in the smallest four-day walking tour in the Netherlands. The “Barchemse” is therefore a must for nature lovers and connoisseurs. Walk at your own pace.

Barchem Hiking Village

What makes Barchem a real walking village? That is the combination of organized walks with walking on your own. And all this in the beautiful area around Barchem ('house near the mountain') in the Gelderse Achterhoek!

Walking sports association DOS and the Barchemse 4 Days have been providing organized walks for years. Walking on your own has been added, from the Dorpsplein in Barchem. There start and end nine walks with lengths of 6 to 24 km. These routes can each be walked in two opposite directions, are fully signposted, and GPX files can be downloaded via the links below and you will find information worth knowing about the routes. Most (especially longer) routes provide catering facilities with a snack, drink and sanitary stop along the way.

17.00 – 19.00 : We offer a maximum of 100 participants in the sports hall of Dorpshuis 't Onderschoer, Beukenlaan 1 in Barchem the opportunity to register last-minute at an additional cost of 5 euros, if the maximum number of participants has not yet been reached.

Barchemse 4 Daagse

The Barchemse 4 Days of 2022 has now "completed". At the start of the first walking day, Thursday 30 June, the counter stood at 1027 walkers: 213/560/197/48/9 for the 15/20/30/40/50 kilometers. Of these, 862 participants completed all four days of regulation: 7 walkers for the 50 km, 37 for the 40 km, 158 for the 30 km, 489 for the 20 km, and 171 for the 15 km finish four times.
