On the way to the most beautiful walking event in the Netherlands when the most beautiful routes of the Achterhoek will be walked in Achterhoekse Wandelvierdaagse.

The starting point of  the event is the center (Simonsplein) of  Doetinchem , where all participants gather to walk routes of approximately  12, 20, 30 and 40 kilometers  through the most beautiful parts of the  Achterhoek .

Whichever distance you choose, you can indulge in the rich cultural history and beautiful nature of the Achterhoek. The routes lead through forests, idyllic villages and breathtaking estates and farmlands.

ROUTE DAY 1: Day of Doetinchem/Oude IJsselstreek - Etten - Terborg - Gaanderen - IJzevoorde

On this first day of the 16th Achterhoekse Wandel4daagse, the route goes through the lock complex in the Oude IJssel, part through the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek and part of the Slangenburg nature reserve.

The 12 km walkers take the route through the nature park “De Zumpe” and the Wrange to the rest area t' Onland.

The 20 and 30 km walkers follow the route along the Oude IJssel towards the “Akkermansbeekpark” to Gaanderen.

The 40 km pass over the lock through the beautiful nature park “De Pol” towards Etten and Terborg. Then the 40 km walkers walk through Terborg via the Walstraat - Marktplein - Industrieweg - Van Wischstraat to the "Henk Stokman" path to rejoin the 20 and 30 km walkers.

Then the 20 – 30 and 40 km walkers go to the service area at shoe fashion “Jeannette” in Gaanderen.

The 20 km walkers go via sports park “De Pol” along the “Bielheimerbeek” towards t' Onland.

The 30 and 40 km walk through the nature reserve "Slangenburg" to the rest area "Pokkershutte" in IJzevoorde.

The 40 km run another route over the Jolinkdijk-Nijmansedijk-Stadsedijk to rejoin the 30 km walkers towards t' Onland at the “Pokkershutte”.

All walkers come together at the t' Onland rest area and then follow the route through the Wrange and past the Graafschap stadium towards the center of Doetinchem to the finish location on Simonsplein. The 40 km run another route over the Jolinkdijk-Nijmansedijk-Stadsedijk to rejoin the 30 km walkers towards t' Onland at the “Pokkershutte”. Etten: Between approximately 07:30 and 10:30; Meesterijweg, walking path behind the football field of Etten, Kampweg, Zeddamseweg the 40 km .

Terborg:  Between approximately 09:00 and 11:00; Lock complex “De Pol”, Akkermansbeekweg, IJsselweg, park Akkermansbeek the 20 –  30 km .

Going:  Between approximately 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.; Park Akkermansbeek, Nachtegaalstraat, Mezenstraat, foot/cycle path along the railway, Korte Huitinkstraat the 20 – 30 – 40 km . Main Street, Lange Huitinkstraat, Watertapweg, Binnenweg, Over De Beek de 20 km . Main street, Bloemenweg, Steverinkstraat the 30 – 40 km .

IJzevoorde:  Between approximately 09:30 and 15:00; Slangenburg, Loordijk, Stadsedijk, the 30 km . Slangenburg, Loordijk, Kolkstroeterpad, Heidenhoekweg, Jolinkdijk, Nijmandsdijk, Rutgerstraat, Nijmanseweg, Loordijk the 40 km.

Doetinchem:  Between approximately 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.; Waterstraat, Gasthuisstraat, Prinsenhof, IJsselkade, Plantenstraat, Passtraat, Holterweg, Lohmanlaan, Van Houtenlaan, Holterweg crossing Oostelijke Randweg, Rembrandtstraat, Vossenstraat the 12 km . Between approximately 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.; Waterstraat, Gasthuisstraat, C.Missetstraat, Wijnbergseweg, harbor street 20 – 30 – 40 km .

Between approximately 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; Koekendaal Kampstraat, Berlagelaan, Duikerstraat, Vijverlaan, Holterweg, Passtraat, Burg. Tenkinkstraat, Nieuwstad, Heezenpoort, finish Simonsplein the 12 – 20 – 30 – 40 km .

ROUTE DAY 2: Day of Hummelo - Wehl - Keppel - Drempt.

On this second day of the 16th Achterhoekse Wandel4daagse, the route of the 20 – 30 and 40 km will be partially walked around the Oude IJssel. The route of the 12 km walkers goes through the "Kruisbergsche Bosschen" to their resting place "Het Wapen van Heeckeren" and then along another forest route to resting place "Kasteel De Kelder". The 20 km walkers go via resting place, the bridge in Laag Keppel, to their rest area “De Gouden Karper” in Hummelo. The 30 and 40 km walkers go via Wehl to Nieuw Wehl to their first rest area at “Elver” and then the route goes over the dike along the Oude IJssel in the direction of Laag Keppel. The 30 km walkers join the 20 km walkers towards Hummelo on the Hessenweg. The 40 km walkers make another detour through Achter Drempt to take a break at the "Boerencamping Remmelink" rest area and then join the 20 and 30 km to the "De Gouden Karper" rest area. Then the 20 – 30 and 40 km go via the Hessenweg to the “Wapen van Heeckeren” to go together with the 12 km walkers to the last resting place at “Kasteel De Kelder” and then complete the last stage in the direction of Doetinchem to the finish at Simonsplein.

Wehl: Between approximately 8:15 AM and 10:30 AM; Cingelwal, Jr. The Bellefroidweg, Doesburgseweg, the 30  – 40 km .

New Wehl : Between about 08:30 and 11:00; Kerkhofweg, Oude Doesburgseweg, Elver terrain, the 30  – 40 km .

Low Kippah: Between approximately 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.; Wehlsedijk, Dorpsstraat, Low Keppel Marina, the 20  – 30  – 40 km .

Hoog Keppel: Between approximately 9 am and 11:30 am; Hessenweg the 30 km . Burg. Vrijlandweg, Dubbeltjesweg, the 40 km .

Achter Drempt: Between approximately 09:00 and 12:30; Zomerweg, Roomstraat, Bronksestraat, Tellingstraat Roomstraat, Kipstraat, the 40 km .

Hummelo:  Between approximately 9.30 am and 1.30 pm; Hessenweg, Keppelseweg, the 20 km . Van Heeckerenweg, Spalderkampweg, Greffelinkallee, Dorpsstraat, JD Pennekampweg, De Muldershof, the 20 – 30  – 40 km .

Doetinchem: Between approximately 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.: Waterstraat, Korte Kapoeniestraat, Grutstraat, Walstraat, Burg. van Nispenstraat, Koperen Kees, Rev. van Dijkweg, Frielinkstraat, Willem Rodalaan, Juliana van Stolberglaan, Hietlandlaan the 12 km . Between 6.30 am and 9.30 am: Waterstraat, Stokhorstweg, Edisonstraat, Liemersweg the 20 – 30 – 40 km .

Between approximately 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.: Loenhorsterweg, Hogenslagweg, Zandstraat, 2nd Loolaan, Groenestraat, Juliana van Stolberglaan, Loolaan, Koperen Kees, Burg. van Nispenstraat, Walstraat, Catharinastraat, finish Simonsplein the 12 – 20 – 30 – 40 km .

ROUTE DAY 3: Day of Bronckhorst - Keijenborg - Hengelo - Zelhem.

On the 3rd day you mainly walk through villages and hamlets of the municipality of Bronckhorst. The first part of the route goes along the “Kruisbergsche Bosschen” towards the hamlet “Wassinkbrink”. The 12 – 20 and 40 km walkers then arrive at their first resting place, formerly camping “Schreurskamp” nowadays Mini camping “Nessst” on the Boeninksteeg. The 12 km continues through the area “Wanninkhage” to their next resting place at ARGO athletics at sports park de “Bezelhorst”. The 20 km goes in the direction of Zelhem to enjoy their 2nd rest area at the catering establishments. The 30 km goes through the hamlet "Wittebrink", the 40 km make a loop via the village of Velswijk, to continue together to their next service area. Then they go to Keijenborg to hamlet “Dunsborg”. The 40 km will first do a round of Hengelo and then rejoin the 30 km at “Dunsborg” and go together to their rest area in Zelhem. The 20 – 30 and 40 km walkers leave from this rest area, via the antiquities museum “Smedekinck”, to the hamlet “De Heidenhoek” where the penultimate resting place is located on the grounds of the Wassink family. After consuming a cup of coffee or a fruit cocktail, the walkers head for sports park "De Bezelhorst", also the final resting place, to complete the last part of the route together with the 12 km walkers to the finish location on Simonsplein in Doetinchem. via the antiquities museum “Smedekinck”, to the hamlet “De Heidenhoek” where the penultimate resting place is located on the grounds of the Wassink family. After consuming a cup of coffee or a fruit cocktail, the walkers head for sports park "De Bezelhorst", also the final resting place, to complete the last part of the route together with the 12 km walkers to the finish location on Simonsplein in Doetinchem. via the antiquities museum “Smedekinck”, to the hamlet “De Heidenhoek” where the penultimate resting place is located on the grounds of the Wassink family. After consuming a cup of coffee or a fruit cocktail, the walkers head for sports park "De Bezelhorst", also the final resting place, to complete the last part of the route together with the 12 km walkers to the finish location on Simonsplein in Doetinchem.

Keijenborg: Between approximately 8:15 AM and 11:00 AM; Keijenborgseweg, St. Janstraat, Kerkstraat the 30  – 40 km . Kroezerijweg the 30 km. Hogenkampweg the 40 km.

Hengelo: Between approximately 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.; Berendschotstraat, Elderinkweg, walking path along Oosterwijkse Vloed, Aaltenseweg the 40 km .

Zelhem: Between approximately 9:15 AM and 2:00 PM; Zevenweg, Groen van Prinstererstraat, Achter de Hoven the 20 km . Orchideestraat, Bergstraat the 30 – 40 km . Smidstraat, Markt, Stationsstraat, Stationsplein, Zuivelweg the 20 – 30 – 40 km .

Doetinchem:  Between approximately 6.30 am and 10.30 am; Waterstraat, Korte Kapoeniestraat, Grutstraat, Walstraat, Burg. van Nispenstraat, Koperen Kees, Rev. van Dijkweg, Frielinkstraat, Willem Rodalaan, Juliana van Stolbergstraat, Berglaan the 12 – 20 – 30 – 40 km .

Between approximately 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; de Gaarde, Sports Park “De Bezelhorst”, Horstingstraat, Van Bommelstraat, Volbedastraat, Nieuweweg, Park Amphion, Heezenstraat, finish Simonsplein the 12 – 20 – 30 – 40 km .

ROUTE DAY 4: Day of Montferland - Kilder - Beek - Zeddam - Braamt.

BASIC INFORMATION

Achterhoekse Wandelvierdaagse

Don't you want four days?

If you want to join us for a walk, it is also possible to join us for one, two or three days. You can do this alone, but also with friends or colleagues.

Rules

  1. The Stichting de Achterhoekse Wandelvierdaagse, hereinafter referred to as AW4d, organizes the four days under the auspices of the KWBN. We also offer the option of starting on 1, 2, or 3 days.
  2. The AW4d is only a performance walking tour and due to the varying surfaces (sand, grass, concrete, stone and/or asphalt) it is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users. The daily distance varies from approximately 40, 30, 20 to 12 km where one is not allowed to walk fast or move in a running stride; not allowed to use means of transport; leave no waste and/or other rubbish on the course.
  3. Participation is entirely at your own risk. The AW4d is in no way responsible or liable for accidents, illness, loss or damage to personal belongings. Participants under the age of 12 can only join accompanied by an adult.
  4. Every participant is obliged to strictly follow directions from the organization, traffic controllers and the police. The current Road Traffic Act as well as the Traffic Rules and Traffic Signs Regulations are fully in force. Any fines or sanctions are at your own expense.
  5. Participants are obliged to adhere to the applicable rules in forests and nature reserves, to follow the indicated routes and to take other hikers into account.
  6. Participants must report personally at the checks at the start, on the route and at the finish at one of the checkers. If this does not happen, the participant is deemed to have dropped out and cannot start the next day.
  7. The AW4d reserves the right, without refund of the entry fee, to change the start and/or finish times and/or places or to cancel the event in whole or in part due to extreme weather conditions or other calamities.
  8. When registering, the participant agrees to the possible use of his personal details and/or his image in print, on photo, film/video, TV images, etc. for promotional or informational purposes of the AW4d. The privacy law also applies to this. No financial compensation can be claimed for the use of personal data.
  9. Dogs are allowed provided they are on a leash and behave socially.

It is not allowed for participants:

  • to express political affiliation
  • engage in offensive behavior or wear offensive clothing
  • carry (with them) advertisements without permission from the board bring a stroller or stroller, etc
  • audibly playing sound carriers.
